Working with Ubuntu

Patch Day Lite and Other Updates

Posted in ubuntu-planet by nigelbabu on April 20, 2010

Earlier, Daniel blogged about Patches and how we’re attempting to solve the current situation.  As announced earlier, we’re going to have a Patch Day on May 5, 2010, across all timezones.  I’ll also be taking a class at Ubuntu Open Week on Tuesday at 1800 UTC, so be there!

On other news, we’d like you to review the documentation and review process.  If you find any problems, holes, mistakes, or confusions, mail Daniel Holbach (dholbach at ubuntu dot com) or me (nigelbabu at ubuntu dot com).  Alternatively, you can catch us in #ubuntu-reviews on

I just did a calculation today.  There are 153 members in ~ubuntu-dev.  If each person reviews 1 patch per day, it would take us only 12 days to review the 1801 bugs with patches attached.

We CAN do it people!

Of course. The whole intention is to make patch review new starting point for beginners. We expect you know how to read code most of the time and prepare deb packages. If you’re stuck with packaging, we can always help out, but at least know the basics is all :) Thank you for your help.
